Why You Need To Stop Worrying About Life
BY J.S. VON DACRE
...AND ONLY WORRY ABOUT WHAT JEWELLERY TO WEAR!
You keep telling yourself that this is not where you should be. You wish you could be somewhere else or doing something different with your life. You regret decisions you made or didn’t make. You think about all the things you did or didn’t do. You measure your value by everyone else around you who are (seemingly) doing better. You could fill an empty warehouse with all your “what ifs”.
You need to stop comparing yourself to other people and where they are in their lives. That is their journey–not yours. Behind closed doors, they also have days that they feel like this too.
The truth is that you are exactly where you should be–even if it is painful and there seems no end in sight. This moment that you exist in right now is perfect.
I would like you to do this: press your hand against your wrist. Do you feel your pulse? That beating is the blood of generations whose lives entwined so that life could trickle down for centuries till you got to be in this very moment. They struggled, toiled, sacrificed, cried, laughed and loved–all for you to be here reading this. You are a miracle born out of science.
Life is a journey where you travel in the dark, without lights or brakes, and sometimes, full speed ahead in the ensuing madness. But the beauty of that darkness is that each turn or acceleration takes you to places, moments, people or things that are unpredictable. Embrace every step on the ladder–even if that step may appear wobbly, that step is still okay. You are still climbing upwards.
Everything you experience in life is temporary and all things change. Remember, you have had moments of happiness, success or love that made you smile before. Even if that smile disappears for a moment, remember that it always finds a way to return–always. And whenever you need a reminder, just feel for that pulse and remember how much it took for you to be here. And you are worth it.
